there`s alot of good ones, Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, Thin Lizzy.
Aerosmith aren`t bad.
And the Darkness- sure they sound a bit like pop sometimes, but give `em a chance.

4.) The Kinks
5.) Led Zeppelin
6.) Bob Dylan
7.) The Eagles (Highest selling album of all time too)
8.) Jimi Hendrix
9.) Bruce Springsteen
10.) Queen
The list has to be this way because these are the groups that shaped rock the most, they were the most influential artists on rock and there`s no denying it.

Rush really has to be right up there..but its so difficult to single out `the greatest rock band` u know. I mean, u cant leave out Led Zep, Black Sabbath,Deep Purple..Jimi Hendrix experience...They are all so great and have influenced rock music so profoundly..Even the doors and Pink Floyd..and not to forget Jethro Tull,The Who.and if u look at a little later and heavier bands, We cant overlook the contributions of AC/DC, Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,Metallica..Its just so difficult to label one band as the greatest..In the end, i must concede that Led Zep has to have an edge because of the sheer quality and depth of each and every song they wrote.On the other hand, Rush would have to go down as the most musically profound and talented band ever.I mean, each of their musicians is amongst the best in thier respective art and thier compositions are just soooo beautifully complex..looks like me has said a lot.will sign off now...rock on
