If you look at the statistics, then the Beatles are the best rock group of all time. They have the most number 1 hits of any rock artist (besides Madonna, but she wins by default) and they did that in less than 10 years! But the greatest rock group is either between Sly and the Family Stone, The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, or The Who.

P.S. Whoever put Good Charolate on their list needs many, many, many years of therapy! I`d rather listen to 5 songs by Ma$e, than listen to any one song of their suburban, winey, semi-goth, crap music.

I am a fan of pretty much all types of music and so when people are saying that such a band is no good because its not rock or whatever is a load of crap. Its a shame that people have to bee so into catagorising music. What one person sees a rock another person may not. I adore Queen cos a lot of there music is different but i also like bands like Good Charlotte. Whatever someone says is the best band another will disagree but i have to say i like Queen cos they dont sound so uptight about being `Rock` music. (Plus Freddie was a Legend and can also sing higher than most girls.)

If u like good charlotte, u shud kill urself. It`s as simple as that.

my fav band of all time by far is AEROSMITH! They have sold more than 156 million albums and have have 26 Top 50 songs whisch is amazing. My top 10 fav aeorsmith songs are

the main question is why a band would be the greatest band ever
in my opinion that can be based on like 10 things or so

1) record sales
2) impact
3) #1 hits
4) experiments (new things) // inventivity
5) records in the sense of special things which they achieved that no-one else did
6) music (altough that`s personal)
7) money earned (how and in what time)
songs covered by other artists (how many times)
9) good live performances
10) times songs played on radio
11) members

i shall now give some examples

1) most records saled in history of 1 artist => beatles
2) impact = huge, look at the books written about that time or watch videos
(no-one can deny their impact was immense and never so big before or after
beatlemania and british invasion) => everyone knows the beatles, even now
3) most number one hits in history, like 28 of them (list can differ but they`re always in the top 3)
4) new sound created => beatles is probably the most inventive and creative band in music history and they also made so many incredible differing songs qua sound, for instance hard rock, straight rock n roll, rock ballads, indian oriented songs and so on
(a hard days night was something completely new, sgt peppers is probably the greatest sensation in music history => brian wilson of the beach boys even had a nervous breakdown after hearing that)
more examples can be named (abbey road etc.)
5) first ones to record a liove song in one take, and at the first world satelite broadcast (just an example)
first ones to perform live in front of an full stadium
beatlemania again etcetera
they earned more respect than anyone else
6) the music can hardly be discussed, it`s great (greatest in my opinion, which doesnt mean i dont like other artist, cuz i do)
7) beatles earned a lot of money, mccartney was the first and only pop-biljonair
although they only toured for about for years and their record deals werent to great in the beginning and they also spent money, lennon had 150 million dollars in 1970 (which is incredible)
for example yesterday has been covered over 3000 times by other artists making it the most popluair song in history
9) the beatles are well known for their incredible live performances, which were xtremely great ( led zep, pink floyd are also great live so is another number of bands, but beatles is fantastic)
10) beatle songs are most played songs on world radio stations, for example yesterday alone over 6 million! times, making it again the most populair song in music history => many of their songs, if not all, are just timeless, they will be passed on from generation to generation
11) beatles existed of the greatest artist of all time john lennon and probably the second greatest artist, mccartney
also the most well-knows/famous artist
the best songwriting team in history
harrison earned great respect for his filosophically-like lyrics/songs
so does lennon with his pacifism
all band members have great personality

(try to convince me they dont)
