Thanks for showing off your point, this is what i wanted someone to do. What i meant is that you can say that something is good or bad to your ears, however you say it, radically or gently, this is an affirmation of your taste wich more than legitime. But you can not name a musician or a band to be the best in the world. It would suggest that no band at all can beats them, and that everybody should agree. Anyway i dont want to argue, just shooting opinions is enough. I agree with you for radiohead, Olga. This band has prove once again that you evolve and keep quite the same style. Compare the old albums, "The Bends" for example, with the new one, " Hail to the Thief" . There still this melancolic, always dark and lightful sound, hopeful and despaired(for example have you notice that they always mix the major and minor scales and chords). But there is for sure something more on the new one. Kick-ass lyrics (Just cause you feel it, it doesn`t mean it`s there), more dense atmosphere and mood. i do agree with you about Nirvana too. And i dont know about Muse, i`ll try to find some. But i still think that Alien Ant Farm is the worst band i heard.

Uh-huh...
It`s a shame that many people criticize "HTTT".
I found it pretty good (Heh, "There There" is coincidentally one of my favourite songs on the album). Wicked songs, good vocals... And yes, the lyrics are rather special, aren`t they? "We Suck Young Blood" still sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it... I declare it the official "freakout song of all time" for me. *Cheers are heard in the distance* I don`t know... Something about that wobbly/groggy (can`t find the right word) singing, the piano (the instrumental bit was so good... It gave me this feeling of hysteria) and that clapping (which would`ve seemed out of place elsewhere) all made it pretty scary.
Although as far as I know Thom Yorke himself once said that he rarely paid attention to the meaning of the lyrics... Like, say, "Subterranean Homesick Alien" is, in fact, a song about alien abduction. Well, sure, he talks about aliens making home movies, but somehow I never thought that it`d be the main idea... Heh.
Muse are certainly worth a listen.
Try downloading something of theirs... It depends on what you`re into, though: if you like guitar riffs, you HAVE to listen to "Stockholm Syndrome". Every time I listen to it I almost get filled with the music...
However, "new Born" is considered to be one of their most `energetic` songs... "Muscle Museum" became a hit back in 2000 or so, so I guess that if it was alright for the masses it shouldn`t sound too alien (for example, I was horrified when I first listened to them... It took me a couple of tries to finally accept their work).
I can`t say anything about AAF... I`ve never listened to them... But if they are anything like Slipknot (i.e. continuous roaring and guitar screaming) then, ah, no thank you...
I`ll go on a "music quest" this weekend and check out all the hard rock bands mentioned here... Then I`ll be able to give a better opinion on it.
Anyone heard of Opeth, Thrice or The Darkness? I have never encountered their music, but I`ve heard a number of good reviews, so they`re another few bands I`ll be looking up...

Do agree with ya, Olga... Hey Fat Lane, What square do YOU live in, it might be damn tight, you seem a little angry. I kind of agree with you that those bands suck because of the easiness of their music, the kind of empty lyrics and and cold music that make me think of your mom, fat lane. But anyway, i already gave my opinion on those bands, why dont you give yours, buddy. As an answer to Olga, i have the same feeling than you when i listen to Hail To The Thief. I dont know if have noticed Yorke optimized his concept of superposed vocals that he began working on in the previous albums. Anyway, this album is a bomb. I read somewhere a critic saying that HTTT was like an extasy pill with a bitter taste. There is like a a restrained energy that makes you wanna dance and cry at the same time.
I do know Opeth, a kind of gothic metal band with choir sounds, sometime heavy, sometime smooth. Pretty good musicians. Thrice is goodam good too; if i remember it`s a New Rock band, but i just remember that i liked it.
If you like smooth, atmospheric, hopeful, simple but intensive music you HAVE to listen to GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR.It`s a Post Rock band from Montreal that is pretty popular in Japan. There exclusively instrumental, with sometime electronical sounds or conversations taken recorded in the street. They made a sound research in the super slow bag, so you can feel all the textures of their music, and it`s just gruging you from within. I listen to them while crossing the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia, Canada, i just had an illumination...i almost got blind. I dont want to to tell you more about this band, or maybe "listen to this right now". By the way you have to listen the whole album to really get into it. My favorite album is "F# A#"

pure metal:It seems that a very few people understand the difference between telling your opinion in saying that a band suck, and giving shxt to someone cause this person listen music you dont like. And i didnt think i said something compromising about that. I hate linkin Park, that`s true but i never sent someone to hell bacause of that. Anyway i think we`re arguing on that since the beggining of this forum, let`s just say simply what we think. By the way, what kind of metal d`you listen. Used to be a headbanger and i still listen to meshuggah. It,s probably the most brutal, hateful, complicated (rythmicly), intensive and completed metal band i know. And compared to the majority of metal bands, they dont speak just about gore stuff and ultraviolence, or about the reign of satan or some sadic goddess. This is mostly why i stop listenning to metal, it`s sometime kind of fake, dont you think. But Meshuggah based their lyrics on sociologic statements and on the reason why we easily get twisted. Go find it if you like metal stuff.

My internet is sort of, ah, down at the moment... I`ll be able to comment fully on everyone`s opinion as soon as I can...
Just so that no one thinks I`m avoiding anything...
P.S. I finally got the chance to listen to Godsmack, A Perfect Circle and Dreamtheater... As said before, comments will take place a little later.
