No Question In My Mind That Led Zeppelin is the best the world has ever and will ever see. Guns N` Roses is also exellent. I like the Beatles but they are a little overrated. I`m Kind Of Tired of hearing about them. Lennon was an amazing political figure but they should not be the biggest rock band of all time. Metallica is pretty good too. You Gotta mention Pink Floyd. Too influential to ignore. Nirvana is awesome.

50s Too Damn old !!!!!!! Elvis was doo wop not really rock.

60s Jimi Hendrix and the Who dominate. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones are overrated.

70s THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK!!!!!!!!!!
Zeppelin leads the pack. AC/DC and Pink Floyd are next. The Ramones are the best of punk rock. Queen is awesome. Van Halen is a classic. The Clash Black Sabbath Cream and Deep Purple. Kiss is good too. I don`t get why people hate them.Aerosmith has to be recognized.
80s
The Eighties had a lot of cheesy krapp. Def Leppard can be annoying. Poison Ratt Cinderella and Bon Jovi Are All a trmendous joke. U2 is overrated. Guns N` Roses were the real deal, though. Don`t mess with GNR. Motley Crue was sick. Metallica was awesome too.

90s
Nirvana dominates the ninties. Kurt Cobain was so influential to music. Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains were awesome.

Now
practically no one to mention. Velvet Revolver and Green Day. GOOD CHARLOTTE SUCKS!!!!!! Bizkit sucks. linkin park stinks.

Fuk have you listened to Nirvana and compared them to say pearl jam or alice in chains. They are good but so overated in every department. Red Hot Chilli Peppers are better. FFS whats with this obsession with Nirvana. i like them i have all their cds and what not but... Just coz cobains death was so heavily publicised. You must remember they only made 3 cds not including live performances.

I Forgot To Mention The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, they`re awesome too. They still have noting on Nirvana. Nobody Tops Guns and Roses and Led Zeppelin.GNR may not be legends to some people, but they are still awesome. Not all their songs are typical hair metal songs, either. Civil War is a serious song about being tired of war. Other than Apppetite For Destruction GNR fans should check out Use Your Illusion 1 and 2. Good Stuff. Led Zeppelin still dominates everyone, including the Beates. rock on.

Yeah gunners are wicked i fully agree. Led zeppelin undoubtably legends. Also pink floyd. I must say its fair enuf that you think Nirvana is your favourite band nobody can change this. Mine would have to be Soundgarden or Pink Floyd.

I think the best ever are The Beatles, Led Zep and Iron Maiden. Although, I personally really like RATM, who were probably more successful at what they did than anyone else in terms of getting their message to a lot of people, although they really didn`t produce enough records/songs to be considered in this and were really just a single issue group.

One group right now that I think has the potential to join these legends is BSS (Broken Social Scene), although they need to become more popular in the US and Europe to really be recognized for what they`re doing.

does anyone listen to phish? they have covered songs from evey band previously mentioned, and have the most diversity, best musicianship( save for a few: yes, dream theatre, many progs rock bands...etc), and best live music of any band mentioned. just like to throw a curve ball, there live shows were the best around for 20 years. allman bros and grateful dead are good ones as well for the live expereicne, no show was the same. eddie van halen has amazing talent as a guitar player, and van halen is the best heavy band of the 80s. for pure virtuosity i would have to give it to yngwie malmsteen. no good bands have come out in the past 10 years, in fact i found thi spage searchign for good bands that have come out in the past 10 years...the truth is, there are none. on another sidenote while led zep is influential, they should get no credit for writing any of there own material, its all stolen, no one seems to realize that. every song is an old blues song, and stairway is a rip off of a spirit song called taurus, jimmy knew a member of the group before zep was big and ripped it. he is the sloppiest live player of all time, second only to hendrix when he was f`ed up. both hendrix and zep ae waaaay overrated. no doubt there music is good and makes me bob my head, but there live stuff sucks, just to get that off my chest.

heh, wow. Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles should be on there. Though I am not a big Beatles fan, they were very good and extremely influencial and famous(duh) The Who could write anything and get away with it because of Peter Townshend`s genius song writing skills. They also had a crazy drummer and invented the `windmill` move. The Rolling Stones to Beatles music a little farther, they were more rebellious and, again VERY talented, famous, and influencial.

Led Zeppelin invented a genre. No Iron Butterfly and Vanilla Fudge did not play anything even related to Zeppelin. Come on, just listen. They had one the greatest and most diverse guitarists, who is considered the most influencial singer in the past 40 years, ONE of the best and hardest hitting drummers ever, and an amazing bass/keyboard/mandolin/arranger. I just read a thing that said Zeppelin was the 7th best rock band, but admitted that they were the most famous in the world in the 70s and even broke the Beatles` attendance record(as well as almost every attendance record of ever place they visited0

Now you can see which I think is the best, but those four most definetly should be in there. They remain some of the most well known and loved bands for a reason.
