Why is Floyd so low????    21:05 on Friday, April 29, 2005

1. Beatles (no more can be said about their music, influence and inspiration).
2. Led Zeppelin (Greatest performing, musically coordinated rock band EVER. They`re truly amazing. Not only their unique style, awesome songs, but endless talent. Plant, Page, Jones, and Bonham are all extremely talented. The way they write and perform their songs are unbelievable.
3. Pink Floyd (underrated band on this board. Pink Floyd is just as amazing as Led Zeppelin. I only put it #3 because of abc order lol. But Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are tied. The musical brilliance of Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour, also Wright and Mason on Dark side of the Moon works, is amazing. Waters is the John Lennon of Pyschadelic music. Especially on Animals and the Wall. Gilmour`s songwriting is indeed very good, but his guitar playing is unbeatable. I know this sou nds crazy to Zeppelin fans, and although Page, the master of riffs is one of the greatest guitar players of all time, Gilmour beats him in my opinion. Yes Page did stairway to heaven, But Gilmour did Comfortably numb, the most beautiful and clean, speed demon guitar solo I`ve ever heard. Enough said...

For one, just because this music is old means nothing. The rock kicks ass. Gilmour, Hendrix, and Page, not forgetting Clapton could kick any guitarists ass of modertn music anyday. And your music that you previously listed is not good. Actually, it`s trashed cheap power chords with screaming, and fake sound effects, which Floyd had perfect until other bands abused it cough *Linkin Park*. Anyways, your modern music sucks. Go to the store, get some Sabbath, Clapton, Hendrix, Lennon-McCartney, something worth listening to!!

the greatest rock band is AEROSMITH...Steven Tyler, Demon of Screamin`, is in the band. Joe, Brad, Tom, and Joey make sense. No doubt. They`re the greatest. But in the list would be, the Beatles and the Zeppelin...

No one has a chance to become as great as say the beetles(i hate the beetles!) becos evry1 likes this rnb pop rubbish but really the most addictive band iv heard at the moment for me are Muse althought they are a more alternative rock/opera band wierd i no but, if they just had a chance they cud become gr8!

To those of you who claim the Beatles were just pop, think again. Much of ther later music was hevily influential on almost any band out there. Come Together, Something In The Way, and Yesterday could all be considered rock songs.

Led Zeppelin is by far the best band ever. They could play light, hard, fast, slow, blues, rock and everything in between, not to mention almost every one of their songs was amazing in some way.

for me their is no beating zeppelin, if u disagree just take a listen 2 physical graffitti. No other band has that kind of range or talent.

1. Led Zeppelin (the combined talent of this band is amazing)

2. The Beatles ( no better songwriter than lennon xcept 4 dylan and the best at harmonies

3. U2 (one of the few bands really making a statement and great songwriting)

4. Bob Dylan (the voice of a generation and undoubtedly the best songwriter of all time)

5. Eric Clapton (imho the best guitarist of all time, just look at his body of work)

6. Jimi Hendrix (best improvisional guitarist of all time)

7. The Rolling Stones (whole package, variety eart for jams and ballads, great sound, massive body of work)

8. Nirvana ( like dylan voice of generation and some REALLY hearfelt, authentic stuff)

9. The Who (original attitude band hugely ambitious i.e. Tommy, Quadrophenia)

10. Soundgarden ( xcept for plant possibly greatest voice in rock, great at making a mood)

honorable mention
-grateful dead
-floyd
-sabbath
-NIN
-Metallica

oh, btw i`m just fourteen

1. Radiohead - Although they are slightly slumming now, they have extremely good albums that many modern bands have taken from.
2. Pink Floyd - Most influential sounds.
3. The Blood Brothers - Their songs are filled with excitement.

I can only agree that Floyd is being overlooked by many people here, take it as you will. But gilmour is undoubtedly, at the very least, within the top 10 guitarists of all time, at the LEAST. Their revolutionary sounds without a doubt helped with the evolution of rock music as much as anyone else.
