idk if there is still some confusion as to the name of the song played at the end but it`s the 4th movement of "la musica notturna della Strade di Madrid (Passacalle)" - Quintettino, Op. 30, No. 6 ... They have it iTunes but it`s by the Berlin Philharmonic and Herbert von Karajan. Hi; I am trying to find out the name of the music in the final scene of Master and Commander in which at one point the captain plucks the violin, guitar style almost, as the doctor plays the cello and then they switch with the doc plucking the cello and the captain playing the violin. Does anyone know the name of this piece and who performs it so I might buy or download a copy? Thanks

I am currently having theLa Musica Notturna Della Strade Di Madrid sheet music shipped to my house. I should recieve it by monday June 27, so when I do i`ll scan it and send you all the parts.

There is Bocherini for the theme (end duet), Mozart for the first duet (pizzicato on the cello), and Bach for the cello solos.....

yeah me too, I`m a violinist.
But guys you can write the stuff yourself. Just listen to the soundtrack and write down the notes thats whtat i did and it came out fine. I played it for a concert so give it a try guys....and be patient as well

It`s called The Prelude from the Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, composed by Bach.

For the music at the end: check BOCCHERINI`S Quintettino in C Maj. G 324: La musica notturna delle strada di madrid, i.e. NIGHT MUSIC FROM THE STREETS OF MADRID.
The section they play is actually written for TWO CELLOS, (not violin & cello) which the composer directs to be played like guitars, ie. in their laps....and it is to be crude and racous. I think its the "Los Manolos" section of the quintet. The whole quintett is great stuff.

I would LOVE to get a copy of every master and commander piece you have hehe, Ive been looking for it everywhere. I play violin and cello

FYI - I found where you can print the sheet music to "Passacalle" for Violin/Cello Duet (2005) by Luigi Boccherini. This is the last song in the Master and Commander movie where the Capt and Doc play together. You can even listen to it as a "midi" file.
