Hi my daughter is 10 years old and learning the alto sax. We currently have a hire instrument but would like to purchase one for her.

I have been advised that the yamaha Q series or the YAS 275 would be good student instrument with the latter being the better option. Additionally the latest Jupiter 565gl has come as a much improved and highly recommended instrument. Can i please get some objective feedback to help me make the right choice

Yamahas are much better than Jupiters, I`ve never played on those Yahamas before but I do own YAS 23 and it plays great! So my suggestion: go with the Yamaha.

Yamahas are wonderful horns, but if she wants to do this longterm and is very dependable and responsible, I suggest an AS300 by Selmer. It is a very wonderful horn which I use for marching, classical, and jazz music. It`s very responsive once you break it in and is very reliable. Good luck with that! Alto rocks! Haha!
