Okay, this is the best explanation I can give over the internet.
Double-tonguing involves making a "ta - ka" sound while singing, or playing a wind instrument. The technique varies for every instrument, but that`s basically what you do. It may feel a little weird at first, because your tongue is a muscle, and double-tonguing is, in effect, a workout for your tongue. It`s like lifting a 5 pound weight, and then suddenly trying to lift a 50 pound weight. You can`t do it automatically, it takes time to learn. I have been trying to master it for nearly a year now, and I still don`t have it down.
This is an essential skill for a brass player, and a useful skill for a woodwind player. It takes time to learn, but once you master it, your marketability as a musician will become much greater.
Cheers,
Thomas
