In a previous thread of messages this subject was kicked around a little, with part of the issue being that Doc plays a Getzen horn. Doubtless, he did for a long time, but if we look now at the www.getzen.com website we don`t see Doc`s name listed as a current Getzen artist. As for the Servinsen Destino custom trumpet that Doc now plays and offers at $3850 per copy, I had the pleasure of playing one recently, and there is just no fair comparison of it to any other. If you`re an experienced trumpet player and want a horn that is so smooth and responsive that you can hardly believe that what you hear is from your own lips, spend the bucks and get one. For anyone who might wonder, I don`t have any ties to Doc Servinsen. I just know that he markets a fantastic trumpet.
