I can see your point, Frodo, but did anyone force you 2 play trombone? I mean, even if you didn`t want flute, which it sounds like you wouldn`t in a millenia, you could`ve picked trumpet or clarinet, 2 other instruments that have the melody. If you don`t like NOT having the melody, then why are you a trombone in the first place?I`m tellin` you what, if you think playing 32nd notes in the melody is a piece of cake on a flute, you`re dead wrong. Plus, some of the 5-miles-above-the-staff notes we have 2 play can be quite a challenge. And just so you know, my best friend-who`s a trombone- can`t play flute for more than a couple minutes without getting light-headed. (By the way, this isn`t Andy Snider by any chance, is it? I`m just having a weird hunch... if you`re not, then disregard that question.)My point: don`t diss it if you haven`t done it.

Ok, first off I have played the flute as well as half of the other instruments in the band. I kinda know what I`m talking about. And why am I a boner? Can u say "instrument of need"? How bout "scholarship"? Anyway, its awesome to play, just not in any concert bands, ever. And I`m, sorry about your friend who gets light-headed. But how does your friend manage the tbone? It requires a lot of air too.

just wanted to say, sorry that you and the other `bones don`t get any appreciation or anything, ours seem to get a lot...from the whole band and our director. just thought i`d say, it doesn`t really matter about how the mouth goes on anything. who really cares! except the ppl who are playing and think they themselves look stupid. then its up to them to decide what they want to play besides that or just keep doing whatever. AND, oboes don`t seem to get that much recognition or anything in the bands i`ve been in. and oboe is a hard instrument to play. especially when you get real high above the staff. just get over it! have fun with the instrument you got and don`t complain, better things `ll come if you just have faith in yourself and don`t listen so much to what other people are saying!

Don`t ask me how she handles it; I haven`t figured it out either. Thing is though, if you`ve decided to stick w/ trombone, you shouldn`t diss flutes. I have played trombone B4 & yes, I know it`s hard, but you don`t have 2 rag on us. You complain about lack of recognition. At least trombones aren`t getting insulted all the time, which is something flutes seem to have to put up w/more than any other instrument. All instruments have their unique kicks and difficulties, and you should respect that. I haven`t once dissed on trombones in my posts; can`t you at least respect my instrument?I didn`t say you had to love flutes, just don`t go raggin` on us,OK?

I am in 7th grade and Have problems with people saying stuff about the way your mouth goes on the flute. I think the flute is a beautiful insturment that should not be taken advantage of. I mean flutes can hit higher notes than most insturments so we should be getting more respect than some other insturments right? I get so sick of listing to all of the things. And whats worse is that next year im the only senior band flute and the girl that plays flute now is really good im so scared that i cant take her place or do better. Please help me Email me please?? THe FLUTE MAY NOT BE THE MOST RESPECTED INSTRUMENT, BUT IT IS ONE OF THE KEY ELEMENTS IN A BAND. AND SO ARE THE OTHER INSTRUMENTS. DON`T DISS, AND DON`T LISTEN WHEN OTHERS DISS. HU CARES ABOUT THEM? YOU DO WHAT YOU DO, AND THAT`S THAT. YOU`RE JUST AS GOOD AS THEM, SO THERE. IN THE END WE`RE ALL TOGETHER AND PLAYING MUSIC, SO GET OVER IT. LIFE ISN`T DISSIN`, IT`S APPEATING WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH OTHERS. PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT, FRODO!
YOURS,
NOT DISSIN LAURA
