I have a trumpet that has on the bell that says it was Made by S. Schirmer. A brass trumpet in great condition with two mouthpieces and in the orginial case. Serial # 79161 is stamped on the trumpet. I can find no information on this at all. G. Schirmer is a sheet music company and has no information of the history of the instrument building phase of their history. I am looking to sell this piece but have no idea as to value.. It could be a `rare piece` since I cannot discover any info at all on it. Contact can be made thru here or at rich318@ptd.net.. would appreciate any info at all on this!

Hey Rich, Guess what? I have a brass trumpet. on the bell it says G.Schirmer New York, Made in Elkhardt Indiana. I dont have the serial number handy. Im at work, the horn is home. I sent an email to G. Schirmer, and they say it must be too old to have any history. they dont know anything about it.My friend in New Jersey, did some research and found out the a top Quality horn maker called Martin. Yes, the same company that made the Martin Committee, They made some promotional horns for a few companies, and G. Schirmer was one of them. G. Schirmer published all kinds of music. I have some music going back to 1914. They published trumpet music, so I guess, this is how they wound up with trumpets with their name on them. My Schirmer horn plays realy well, compared to the student horns around. If you hear anything more, please let me know. I bought mine in a thrift store. The young guy who donated it said he got it from a friend in college who brought it over from England. Anyhow I hope you get this. Al from Fla.
