Help! We have begun a search for a new viola for my daughter. Our top budget is $3000.00, so of course we`re limited. She is a junior in high school and is planning on majoring in music in college. Her viola lesson instructor suggested the Samuel Shen, but the store that she recommended we try does not have good things to say about the Shen. Also, this store sold a Shen to one of my daughter`s friends last year for $2500.00 for the whole outfit and now is charging $3000-$4000 just for the instrument! I was also told that the Sofia Amadeus Viola was one to look at. We are not near a dealer of Sofia, so we would have to order it online (SWstrings). Help! How do you know when places are overcharging for your ignorance?? Any advice would be wonderful!
