Hi Guys,
I just purchased a Selmer "hummingbird" alto sax. This is supposed to be the top of the line today. The horn is a tribute to Charlie Parker who probably never played a Selmer anyway. The horn being new has some definite problems which I seriously hope will be worked out by my dealer. The lower register does not speak well due to pads not clamping down firmly, certain keys are really lazy returning, the neck doesn`t have enough cork to seat well, and the rocker arm does`nt open the octave hole in the neck far enough open. All that said it has a great sound and I hope to get things working soon.
I come to this horn after a 30 year abscence from my professional model Buffet Crampon which I foolishly sold. I am a trained musician and played sax professionally in my youth. I am primarily interested in ligit playing.
Anyone with similar experiences with this horn and or ideas..please respond...thanks, John
