I have started playing quite late in life with a Stentor Violin.I have upgraded it by adding Dogal strings yet it still sounds harsh and scratchy. At first I thought it was just my playing until I bought a Viola.Despite its size and awkwardness in handling which is due to my own inexperience. It,s sound is incredible I never realised just how sweet they are.I always admired my tutor,s french violin which is truly beautiful to listen to and I wished I could make a Violin sound so mellow. That is history now I love the Viola despite still being so uncomfortable to hold any tips please.

I`ve been playing the viola since I was eleven. Make sure your posture is good because that is very important to be able to hold the hevier instrument. Same technigue as the violin.
Best of luck!
