i play the flute and i cant deside wether to become a music major or a pediatrition.
i love playing music and i love helping kids. what should i do? right now im up for any thing.
im a sophmore now and i need to kno soon to choose classes to get ready for college

how about music therepy

There is nothing in the world to keep you from doing both. If it were me, I`d go for the pediatrics (tons more money and it`s very rewarding). If you end up in a big town or city there will be beaucoup opportunities to play music in any number of community orchestras, and lots of bands and orchestras don`t even require an audition. Quite frankly, in the professional world, flute players are a dime a dozen, and you would have to be VERY lucky to get a place in a decent orchestra paying a living wage, whereas a pediatrician has a great profession and can get a great salary right from the start. Just more schooling up front!

yeah... i love music, but the incom level is always the question. are you good enough? you could always play in a communtiy band or something

well i dont no how good i am, but my music instructors are pushing me very hard on playing music. they want me to try out for districs next year and i have no idea what that is about. but i do want to go to college for pediatrics but i dont want to have to regret not going for music u kno? maybe im thinking to hard on it?

Well, I`ll be blunt. If you go for music, you will have to have something else to support yourself. So why not the pediatrics? Talk to ten music majors and find out what they are doing to make a living wage - they are teaching, they are playing gigs where they can get them, and some very lucky ones are doing both (teaching AND playing gigs). If you find one person who makes enough to support himself by playing in an orchestra, I`ll be surprised. `Nuff said.

The way I figure, you could still play music weather it`s your job or not, nome sayin`? You should do something else.

I would major in music it very rewarding.
