WORLDWEB MUSICIANS are organising the world`s first online internet music competitions.
They are open to young musicians aged between 17 and 27 who have links with conservatoires, academies, schools and colleges of music anywhere in the world.
Any young musician taking part in the competition will have the advantage of being heard on the web, 24 hours a day and seven days a week for a minimum of four weeks. For the 12 Semi Finalists, there is the opportunity to appear on the web for at least seven weeks and the three Finalists, who will be brought to Cardiff to record a special Winners` Concert on 03 April 2004, and, most importantly, will have the chance to appear in sound and vision over the web for twelve weeks reaching an audience that has been impossible up to now.
For the Winner, there is :
* A cash prize of £5,000
* Exposure for 13 weeks on the web
* The chance to appear in the annual Winners` CD and DVD
* An all expenses paid trip to the UK to take part in the live Winners Concert in Cardiff which will also be broadcast on the Web and on BBC World Service
For members of WORLDWEB MUSICIANS, there is the opportunity to hear the very best young musicians from all over the world at the beginning of their careers and to vote for their favourite performers.
The first series of twelve international competitions over the web starts in October 2003. Each competition is for one instrument only beginning with piano and oboe competitions. In November, competitions for the violin and the trumpet will be launched.
