I`m a guy, I play the flute and I`m not straight. Most people are surprised when they find out that I play the flute. The question that always follows is "do you like girls?"

There was this guy in our band who played the flute last here, but then he switched to percussion because he was too embarrassed to play the flute.

hey i know how u feel alot of people have told me that playing the trupet isn`t girlie enough. SOme of my friends say im a tomboy which really bugs me because how can playing a certain instrument get u catagorized as a tomboy or homosexual? My grandparents hate that i play trumpet because my grandma was a ballet instructor when she was younger and has always wanted me to ballet and play flute or harp. But instead i play trumpet and lacrosse and i skated board. But i stil do al the other "girlie" things. My grandparents have tryed to convince my parents to force me to switch but luckliy my parwents are supportive of me.

Hey, i`ve played the flute for seven years and i`m definitely straight. I haven`t gotten quite that much ridicule except for a select few, who i have refrained from kicking their ass`s. All i have to say is do what you like to.

P.S. I have a question for any flute players in high school, has anyone ever heard of a serious vocal cord change affecting how high they are capable of playing? Its starting to get embarassing because i can barely play above the staff anymore and i was never a bad flutist.
