Hi, I have been playing the oboe for 3 years, but I have never had private lessons as we have been unable to find an instructor with openings around here. I just participated in my first honors band festival, though. I was nominated by my school band director.He felt I was good enough to be in it. I placed about tied for 5th or 6th out of 7 players. We were divided into 3 bands and I ended up 2nd chair out of 3 in one of the bands. I loved the experience and would like to do it again, but I was wondering if after your teacher nominates you, are you for sure accepted or do they reject you if you did not place in the top half or so of the auditions from the previous one. I am afraid that I will not be wanted back because I did not place in the top half. I practice daily and know I will improve and would love to go again as I had so much fun. I know my school director will nominate me again if I want to go.
