I`d just like to know how to do some fancy tricks on the clarinet, like growling, bending, good vibrato, glisandoes etc. Please reply to this. I`d also like some pointers on improvising on the clarinet in a jazz band.

I was asking myself the same question about a month ago. I learned how to bend glissando and growl. The secret to the glissando (rhapsody in blue) is to keep your emboucher the same and lower or drop your tongue in your mouth, almost like you are holding an egg in your mouth. the growl is hard because your tone goes down when you are first trying it. What you do is kind of growl in the back of your throat whileblowing through the mouthpiece. The bend is fairly easy, all you have to do is loosen your jaw and gradually tighten it again. Vibrato is like slightly bending the note back and forth equally. Thats about all i can say about the subject. I hope you are able to get the tricks down.
