Is it just me or does it seem to everyone else that the majority of serious clarinetists are mean/rude? I just auditioned at CIM and a few other conservatories and every single one of them, the clarinet students both auditioning for the college and already attending were incredibly mean to me. And it wasn`t because I was mean or could even be mistaken for being mean. Mr. Cohen was the nicest person I had ever met and so where many of the other teachers, but my word!....is it required of us as clarinetists? I need to know, because I intend to become one!

I think you just got a bad bunch of people. Professional musicians can get nasty, but most of them are really nice. At my university all of the clarinet students and staff are really friendly and supportive.

Nope Rachel. But there was alot of clarinets there to audition when I went. Most of them were guys though. I`m glad that the clarinetists where you are, are nice and encouraging. Sure would like to see more of that here! Maybe I could start a trend!

I don`t even have a brother thats old enough to type, much less post messages about me. That may be a friend of mine. I can`t think of why he would put that I was his sister though...I`ll ask him about it...it does sound like him to get all nasty though. I apologize to all who were offended if it was my friend.
