I`ve been using traditional Van Doren #3 reeds with a 5RVlyre13 mouthpiece, and I wonder if the more expensive Van Doren V12 or Rue 56 reeds are worth trying. They are said to be both thicker and softer, which seems paradoxical to me. I wouldn`t mind reeds being a teeny bit softer as long as I can still play high notes, but traditional 2.5 are mostly too soft and I think 3.5 are mostly too hard for me. Can anyone advise?
