I`ve been playing the oboe for about 2 years. I started on clarinet and played that for about 3 or 4 years and then switched because I had always love the sound of the oboe. Now I have my own; yes, I bought one, and I`m even switching schools to go to Laguardia, an arts school in Manhattan. My primary alibi for leaving isn`t to "pursue" oboe but to get better academics, but I`m starting to think: why should I even spend my high school doing oboe if I`m not going to become an oboist? Am I wasting my time? My teacher`s time? My parent`s money? I mean I like playing the oboe, but I don`t love it. And there are SO many things I want to do with my life, and my teenage career, including sports, ballet, writing...I`m just so confused! I don`t even practice as much as I should. Help!
