help what am i doing wrong taken alto sax up again after 10 years been playing for 4 months and my bottom inner mouth is very sore not doing lessons so teaching myself i know silly question but do you have to touch reed with tongue on every note that isnt slurred finding it difficult

hi just got a tip today thinking im overbiting on my bottom lip tryed to pull back bottom lip so i dont bite into it asked local music shop and a player there said a rizler paper put on your gum where im getting sore gum weird but im gonna try it !
