Hi I have recently begun playing the violin and have two questions. 1. When playing an F on the E string I have to put my finger halfway on the nut in order to key the note from being a little sharp. Is this the correct position or would I be better off playing an F on the A string? 2. When playing in the 3rd or 4th position I find that my fingers are too big to move half steps i.e. from a C# to a D on the E string. What is the accepted method to play in these positions? Thanks
