I have an old violin that I know to be over 100 years of age. There is a label inside that says NAMATI. What makes this violin so unique is the pegs. They do not stick straight out from the scroll like most pegs on most violins. They go to the back and inside the scroll there are little gears that the pegs turn to tighten or loosen the strings. Has anyone seen a violin with this type of pegs? Is there any value to a violin with this type of peg? Where can I go to find the value of this violin? I have no desire to sell it because it belonged to my grandpa. He bought it used when he was about 16 years of age. He died at about age 65 in 1958 and I was given the violin. Thaks in advance for any info you can give me. Please feel free to email me at ruthb@cognisurf.com.
Thanks, Ruth
