A slightly harder reed will help. The brand depends on what works for you.
Also, this exercise will help.
Play a low E, and after a little while put your finger on the register key to bring it up to B. Continue for F-C, F#-C# and so on. Make sure that your embouchure doesn`t change between the registers- the best way to get high notes out is with a strong, FOCUSED airstream. Also if you arch your tongue that should help, but you shouldn`t really need that until about the G above the staff.
I don`t know if you are playing in the altissimo register (that is anything higher than the C which is 2 lines above the staff), but if you are, once you get to low A, you should be playing A-E-C#, Bb-F-D etc.
Again, DO NOT try to get the notes out by tightening your embouchure. Half of the "whoa" feeling probably comes from excess tension. I know this because it is a problem that my last teacher spent ages trying to get me out of. I now sound 100 times better than I did before I met him.
