I`m 17 years old and I`ve played the guitar for 6 years --yes, my question is about the violin-- and when it comes to using the vibrato technique on the guitar, it`s definately something that i`ve been doing for a while. My problem is that since i`ve been so used to rapidly moving my hand to do vibrato on the guitar, that when i feel ready to try vibrato on the violin, it`s like i suddenly have two left feet, ya know? Does anybody have ANY advice on how i can get out of this habit without losing my vibrato skills on the guitar? I don`t care how un-helpful you might think your reply or your advice may be, PLEASE send it anyway. THANK YOU.

ive never herd of really losing your vibrato skills, but bieng that i play both violin and guitar they are actually quite similar. try this when practicing vibrato on the violin hold the violin with your neck NOT YOUR HAND thats one mistake people make. your should be able to hold your violin under your neck with no hands. then place your hand on the finger board and pretend you are waving goodbye to somone with your fingers firmly in place.it may sound shaky at first but after LOTS of practice and har work iy will come around! hope ive helped
good luck!
