My mother has a violin labeled Joseph Baldantonj Ancona fecit Anno 1805. Her mother purchased it for her in the `40s for $200 from a well known music teacher. My mother played first chair in our local symphony for many years. It has a small crack on the back side. Is the name that appears on it of any significance. Would this violin have any value?
