I`m in high school and I`m principle clarinet. I so want to play in a jazz band, but our conductor won`t let me. Do you know of any pieces and their grade levels on jazz music? Other than Rhapsody in Blue and Sing Sing Sing?? Any help is appreciated.

There`s a LOT with clarinet, not sure where to begin. I bought a few cds by the BBC Big Band, and a lot of the material on there includes clarinet. Umm, let`s see:
Song of India
Don`t Be That Way
Moonlight Serenade
Begin the Beguine
s`wonderful
One O`clock jump
Stompin` at the Savoy
Mood Indigo
St. Louis Blues March
Sing Sing Sing

and there are many more. I wish more teachers had a laxer policy on letting `non-traditional` instruments in. Clarinets have been in big bands for a long time, i don`t see why directors often don`t let them in. Hell, the sax was developed from the clarinet.
