I`m a newbie with the piano, watching my friend play the fur elise i wonder how he managed to use both his hands to play seperate rythms, no matter how hard i try i can`t replicate it even if it means going snail pace. Is this something inborn and cannot be trained? i simply cannot imagine my fingers doing seperate things and coming together. should i give up the piano and focus on an easier instrument instead?

NOOOO!!!!! You should not give up piano. Playing with both hands is definatly not inborn. It comes with practice. Just practice a little bit every day and you will get the same skill and people will wonder how you do it. Believe me!! Good luck and keep practicing.
