I am in a popular band and we have been playing mostly 60`s tunes, they play out all over Arizona and southern California, and I am getting us to learn some great tunes of the 70`s and 80`s. Keeping in mind we play big parties, clubs and festivals, can anyone recommend some good songs from 60`s Pink Floyd and The Who, or other songs from bands in the 70`s or 80`s that we could learn?

brown-eyed girl is a good song. not the newer version that`s out tho. boardwalk is another good song. but i`m not sure which decade these songs are from. my step dad`s band does a lot of classic songs. they do a lot of springsteen, pink floyd, queens, and now they are starting to do some songs by garth brooks. (compliments of me) i hope this helps a lil

Well, the band I am in has been together for about five years, and I just joined them as the lead vocalist and keyboardist, also arranger/producer for some projects. I`ve been in bands a lot. They are very good. Since I joined them they went from doing all guitar songs and now we are also doing some keyboard(organ, piano, el. piano, orchestra, etc.) oriented tunes like Doors, Comfortably Numb (pink floyd), Hold The Line (toto), and some cars tunes. But its a lot of work to think of good songs that can be played in clubs, because I don`t really know what people want to hear.

By the way, after reading your post the other night, I took them "we are the champions" by queen and some related tunes like Brown Eyed Girl and we are going to do those. The guitarist only likes Classic ROck, but funny thing he likes Avril Lavigne cause his young daughter plays it a lot. Does she have any well-known danceable songs? Its weird, I looked at the top rock tunes for the last two years, and they are all so depressing, like three doors down and stuff, its good tunes, but very depressed... Thats ok sometimes. There is a song called "the middle" that is fairly positive. I mean, it doesn`t have to be positive, but if there is no dance, no deep pink-floyd-type experience, no partying, and it leaves the audience feeling like going and committing suicide, then I don`t think we would be getting a desired result... he he...

try getting some songs by striper, kutless, everyday sunday, sanctus real. all of the bands i just mentioned their songs are nothing buy positive. brown eyed girl sounds awesome w/the flute btw.

also jonah 33, tree 63 are good bands as well. they have really good music

Hmmmm.... I don`t consider Christian Rock or CCM "positive" music. Most Americans today consider the Evangelical church in America to be a serious cult group that brainwashes people... Thats what I think. So, thanks for the earlier recommendations, but next post I`ll read you asking me who Jesus is to me, and all that bullsh*t. Anyway, later.

no i wasn`t going to ask you who Jesus is to you. i`m not one to preach when i know somebody doesn`t want to hear about God. i was just giving u some bands that have some really good songs that`s all. why do you think that the evangelical church is a serious cult?? ne ways try some songs my lynnard skynnard (i may have mispelled that) or led zeplan (i really can`t spell), the doors has some good music. in fact i`m doing a whole show w/songs by the doors for band.
