I have a girl who joined my band who plays oboe. She is really keen to march with her oboe. We have another oboe player who marches playing a piccolo with me. The problem is she needs a lyre for her oboe and as far as I know a lyre for an oboe doesn`t exist. We have a bassoon player that marches with a bassoon and another bassoon player who refuses to march with a bassoon insisting that it is dangerous. If she wants to march with an oboe that is great but unless she can memorize everything, she needs a lyre.
Has anyone modified or made a lyre for an oboe with any success?

i do not belive you can modify a clarinet lyre has a oboe lyre. I play oboe in the band and play alto sax in jazz band, and my band director is making me march with the alto. I suggest memorizing your music

Try using a wrist lyre for the flute. It requires some plier-adjustment to center the music as your child should read it -- but it works fine.

Try an all-purpose lyre -- there`s a metal band that goes around your neck, and the lyre sticks out. The oboe goes in between the lyre and the metal band.
That`s what I did 30 years ago, and they still sell these lyres.
PS Use old reeds.
PPS When actually moving, lip-sync (hold the instrument up but don`t ruin your embrochure by trying to play).
