Hi all,
I am a recent owner of a Gemeinhardt 12 ES solid silver flute. I have played the flute (silver plated) through high school but haven`t touched it for about 8 years until now. I went out and bought this brand new silver flute that was on special for the price of a student flute.
Now the problem I have is that I don`t seem to be able to hit any notes except GABC, I couldn`t play DEF in any octave at all.
Does anyone out there have any idea what the problem could be?
I am thinking it may have to do with my deteriorated skill level but then I don`t recall DEF to be so difficult to play... and I have no trouble playing GABC, can it still be a embochure problem?
Is there something about a silver flute that I don`t know about?
Before I bring it back to the shop on monday blaming a faulty craftmanship... it would be nice to know if I am to blame due to the lack of practice, so if anyone have any suggestion/ideals please drop me a line.
Thank you
Ben

if you bought it from a specialised woodwind or flute or even a music shop with qualified assistants they will be happy for you to return with concerns or queries they will most likely point out the problem too as they rely on returning customers so they want to keep them happy!
it wouldn`t have anything to do with it being a silver flute.
best of luck

hey,
I have been playing the flute for about seven years now and I own a silver gemignhart... it seems to be that anyone who plays a silver plated flute (usually Yamaha) can`t seem to play d,e,or f on mine either... I have come to the conclusion that it is where the mouth piece is placed on the flute... and it causes you to have to change you embachure a little and people have problems changing after playing the yamaha... and if you have any questions or comments... you are welcome to email me at amberelsmore@cableone.net
