rossin is for your bow. It makes your violin sound louder. You can get rossin at any violin shop, I reccomend the circular kind without the wooden box. Apply rossin on the ends of your bow and swipe to the middle about 3 times. Sorry that was very unclear. Hold the rossin and then start at the frog(part where you hold the bow) then go 3 short swipes there then draw it towards the tip (opposite end) and do 3 short swipes there then do 2 more in the middle. You want enough so that you can see it on your finger if you touch it. Be sure to wipe your violin with a rag when you are done practicing be cuz the roosin gets on your violin and it is bad for it. Good luck!

Remember to scratch it if it`s new or u can use the rosin dust instead. Much faster.
Rosin are from trees.
There are generally 2 types.
Composite and non-composite.

....and remember to store it in a cool , dry place. U wouldn`t want it to melt and become sticky.
