I hear you. You can get reasonably priced horns that play well. I just purchased a 2nd owner Selmer Mark VI for over $5,000. Of course, my first horn I was given in 1980 was a used King which only cost $150. I have a couple of good beginner horns I would be willing to negotiate a good price for you.
I would recommend the Buffet alto.
Well worth what I`m asking. But, I would take $390. Excellent pads and action. Great tone. I`ve played this horn several times and think its top notch.
