Ok i am going to give you some of the brands that i think are really good, and in order

1) Laubin by Alfred Laubin (These oboes are very expensive and there is about an 8 year wait on them. This is because they are hand made and only about 30 are made every year)
2)F. Loree- These oboes seem to be the first choice of many professional oboists and are used all over the world. Cost 3000-6000
3)Fox- Fox is probably the best American made oboe out there on the market. A lot of students and some professionals use the fox.
Cost 2000-5000
4)Yamaha- The yamaha oboes seem to be growing very popular and i believe they are used by the Philadelphia orchestra. they have an even scale and a silky sound. Cost 2000-4000
5)Buffet- The new green line has redone the oboe in a unique way by combining a plastic and wood making it almost uncrackable. Cost (i think would be) 2000-5000

It all depends on your preference and what you are looking for, i really want a new yamaha because they seem to very good horns. If you just want a good highschool horn maybe the Buffet would be a good choice? It just all depends on how much money you want to spend and what kind of quality you are going to want.

Hope this helps.
