I člay jazz with guitarists and I`ve just switched fom sax to bass clarinet. How do I move the pitch up or down as on the sax when I pull out the mouthpiece slightly. With the Bass clainet I can`t seem to alter the pitch enough to get in tune wit the guitars.

you can loosen your lips a bit, but not as much as with a sax, but it works. You can also hold your right fingers down when you play like E,F,G,A,Bb. It brings the notes down a bit. Good luck, man... wait a sec. You`re playing bass clarinet with guitarists? That`s wierd. Please explain.

actually I thought up another one. If you pull the neck out a bit, it lowers the pitch also.

Has your neck got a tuning slide-most necks I´ve encountered have tuning slides on them-a little screw thingy, which adjusts the pitch. Hope this helps.
