Hi there folks I was hoping to get some advice on which Sax would be best for me.
I am a complete beginner, but am very much looking forward to playing or trying to play the sax.
I cant decide which to start with, Tenor or Alto.
I believe Alto is the easier of the two to play. I will probably rent for a while just to see how I go.
I would probably just like to learn some easy listening music or light rock or blues. I dont really intend to play classical music . (If I can get any good that is).

Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

I started on tenor, but everyone says that the alto is the easiest to start on. Of course their is the issue of what you`re willing to pay for one. Tenor is definately more expensive. I think even the rental fees for tenors are more, but not a whole lot. But for me I prefer the tenor over the alto. So I wish you luck in whatever horn you choose.

Alex and M A thanks so much for your replies.

I live in Japan and there isnt a great deal of difference on price between alto and tenor here. Probably only a couple of hundred dollars at the shop nearest me.

Is one instrument more suited to a certain type of music, or is there scope to play all kinds of music with either instument.

Thanks again for youe time.
Guy
