Okay, this is going to be a bit harsh, but I am sick of seeing bad advice being put on here.
Why don`t you kids get in touch with reality. This is so rediculous!
You obviously know nothing if you put Haynes and Muramatsu on the bad list and then put an Artley and a Gemeinhardt on the good list.
Please stop misguiding others on this board untill you really know what you are talking about.
I don`t think that James Galway would be playing on a Muramatsu if it were junk.
Plenty professional flutist play on Haynes, Altus and Muramatsu. If Gemeinhardt and Artley are so good, then why will no professional touch them?
I sure hope that people don`t really come on here and expect to get the correct information regarding flutes.
There are few adults in this forum that actually do know what they are talking about. Arak, KC, Bilbo. Jessie is also very knowledgable.
I suggest that you younger kids on here start listening and taking in what they have to say, rather than thinking and acting like you know everything. Listen, and you will learn.

Hold on. I said there would be differences on the list that I created and I understand this Haynes and Muramatsu where not listed on my bad list. Second you have no idea what my age and experience level is. Third please don`t go around assuming you know what other people know, because we all have different backgrounds. I don`t mean flute experience but, different backgrounds that will influence the way people view things. Oh, and even though I would reccomend that they be taken off the market. Gemeindhart does have a few professionals that play their flutes. Although, I`m pretty sure that most of them are Gemeindhart representatives who recieve the flutes for free and probably have them make all kinds of modifications on them.

Murmatsu and Haynes were listed under your bad list. Go back and check.
Please tell me what professional plays on a Gemeinhardt? I don`t mean a doubler that plays jazz and doubles on sax and flute either. I mean a professional like James Galway.
I was mostly taling about Dustins post anyway.
I ask, simply, do not post, if you don`t know your facts. Look what a mess the post "what is the hightest note on the flute" was. Simply because people get on here thinking that they know everything for a fact.
I will be the first to say that I do not know everything. If there is a topic that I am not 100% sure in, I simply do not reply to them.

I agree with Kara!!!!
Far too much utter cr** is being written in this forum by people who obviously just don`t have a clue.
If anybody comes here for sound advice they can expect to be misled or very confused. The `Highest Note" thread is indeed, a classic example.

hahaha nice joke, but until you find some REAL flute players that play on your "good" brands, I suggest you stop insluting quality handmade flutes such as Altus, Haynes, Muramatsu, Miyazawa etc.

I have a solid silver, open hole Jupiter flute with a B foot joint. I`ve had it about 6 or 7 years, got through grade 8 with it and played it loads in my band and at college, and I`ve never had any problems with it. It sounds great and is nice to play. Jupiter is definitely not a `bad brand` you should never touch.

For one, me and a couple professionals got together and tested flutes for different musical stores for pennsylvania. I have tested flutes AND piccolos. The brands are referring to BOTH musical instruments. Not just flutes! I thought I have posted this in a previous Reply, but I guess it got cut off...Do not mistake the "bad" brands as FLUTES only. They are reffering to piccolos too. And, if you have anything to say about it, take it up with the music commity in pennsylvania!

Ok, you`re just done.
Muramatsu is one helluva flute. Gemeinhardt-I have one, buddy-is not anywhere as good as a muramatsu. haynes is also one great flute. i dont have one because i got a kick-butt discount on my muramatsu. I also hav an armstrong. definately piece of poop. Jupiter isnt that greta. there are better out there, but ive seen worse, too.
kid, I`ve been playing for a few more years than you, as have most of these people aorund here. Leave it to them to decide which is a bad flute and which is a good flute, iight?? good.
now you`re defiantely cut off

My applause, Kara!!!
It is so easy to go back and say "my computer put those brands on the wrong list". live up to your mistakes, Dustin. I hate when the forum members band up against another person, but it is proper to do so in cases such as this...
Brands are best in the view of the person who uses them. I began on an Artly- a VERY old Artly. I loved it and treated it as if it were made of gold, but I traded up within a year. I would never go back to an Artly, but it was a great beginner for me. Other people might not agree, but I`m not going to fight them on it...because it is their opinion.
I think that KC and Arak are two very wise people and Bilbo is very clever. Darkelder, before he left, had such a calming attitude that I miss his posts...There are respectable people, and then there are not...and you do not get respect by backing out of your mistakes after getting the forum in a fuss. No hard feelings, alright?
Just, please be careful of your words!

Um...i dont think its the brands that are the problem and why they are breaking. its how you treat your flute, how your flute was made (hand or machine), how much you use your flute, and other various reasons..(not saying any of yall with broken flutes its your fault) because sometime it could just be the flute...
