nickel usually rubs off quicker than silver. nickel also appears darker and smoother than silver. try them both. decide for yourself

This could be a misleading statement.

Compared with silver, nickel is a far, far harder material and far more wear resistant. Hence it resists being `rubbed off` far better than silver does.

If it appears to have rubbed off, then this is possibly because:

1. The manufacturer was skimping on quality, and layed an extraordinarily thin layer of nickel. If the manufacturer did this with silver, then the silver would last far less time.

2. There are susbstances that corrode and `eat away` nickel easier than with silver, AND vice-versa. Perhaps one of these was involved.

3. What appears to be wear is not wear at all, but one of the forms of nickel corrosion that detracts from appearance.
