Hello again everyone. Later on this week im going on a flute music shopping spree. And i am really pretty clueless. I need to know what you all consider the MUST HAVES of the flute repitoire. IM talking things like syrinx and claude debussy`s afternoon with a faun. Anything you also consider on that level, or any music that you just think i have to have to be considered a serious flutist! Thanks so much!!!

These are few I recommend:

24 Short Concert Pieces by Robert Cavally (Southern Music Company)
Great selection of pieces

24 Flute Concert Studies (Southern Music)
Back Suite in B minor (Flutist`s Bach), Mozart`s Concerto`s G, D, and C, Langer Concerto, Godard Pastorale, Mouqet La Flute de Pan, etc... 160p pages of music.

Flute Music of the Baroque - Loius Moyse / G. Schirmer
Nice varied selections

Schirmer Sonata books are nice.(Bach, Handel, etc)

Melodious and Progressive Studies for Saxophone Book 1
I picked up the Sax book by mistake and I found the excerices to be very melodious and beautiful. **The Flute versions are entirely different and I don`t recommend them.

Depending on your level, you should definetly consider getting the Taffanel and Gaubert 17 daily excersises book. Even though it can be quite expensive (i`ve heard up to $80) it`s a real good book and most college students and some high school students always have their own copy of it. You also might want to get Moyse De la Sonorite which is an excellent book for tone and an etude book by anderson.
