Hey does anyone know the price of a pure gold Yamaha flute, with open hole gold keys and a low b key?
If you could write back the price in Euro that would be great.(dollars is o.k if not)
thanks

This may be a situation where if you have to ask, you can`t afford it. You may try negotiating with the local shop for a price.
Just for a guess, I would say that you are in to it for about $12 to $15K USD.
Yamaha 900 series aren`t the most expensive of course. A Platinum Powell Flute is going to cost a bit more.

If you are going to be going for an all gold flute, why waist you money on a Yamaha? Why not a Powell or Haynes, or even a Muramatsu? Have you even had the chance to try and all gold Yamaha? Nothing spectacular in my opinion.

Any advice anyone?

Also, if you are thinking of getting a gold flute I would spend a little more and get a Miyazawa or Muramatsu flute.

You could order from a dealer. I ordered my Miyazawa from a dealer (I live in the U.K.) and I was sent 3 flutes and if I didn`t like them I was sent another 3 until I found a flute I liked.
I would phone some music shops and ask for their advice and if they could send you some to try
Good Luck finding your perfect flute

I know!!! I would NEVER buy my daughter something like that! I just saw a 15 year girl drop her Powell 3 times at a practice the other day. She just said "oops." It is enough to make you sick!
Parents now a days think that their kids have to have the best of everything, and they are just spoiling them and harming them in the process. Then... they send their kids to Brat camp! (New reality TV show.) They should be sending the parents for beign so stupid! The name of the camp would be called something like, stupid yuppy parents camp. Lol!!!

I feel like I can`t exactly remark on young kids getting such expensive flutes because it would sound like jealousy....but I`ll do it anyway. It seems to be a parental problem, they need the image, and that image includes whatever is associated with their kids. I`m happy that someone has the kind of money it takes for that. I question their choice of how they are using that money. Very few players that young need, or could properly appreciate a flute of high level quality (not that gold necessarily makes it high quality...but we don`t want to get into that again). I agree that they are doing a diservice to their kids. I know many well-to-do families that keep their spending well in check. Their kids never seem to have the attitude that they "deserve" things, that it`s their right, as opposed to privelage.
Those parents are really missing out on so many opportunities i.e. the 14 year old making $300 dollars this summer babysitting a special needs child, then handing the money over to her parents because the mom`s summer job ran out of budget. I am so blessed. I guarantee you that my daughter will be far more successful with her experience than someone who is recklessly handed a gold flute.
But I truly am not meaning to take it out on the op, she may well be able to be a great person despite her parent`s poor choices. To the original poster: You may want to hold off on that purchase until you are better informed. I sincerely don`t mean to offend you personally, so I apologize to you.

I own a gold flute myself, so there is no jeolousy here.
I do see how people might interpret it like that though.

I would expect a good gold flute to cost a minimum of 25,000$ canadian. mine was 20,000 and it wasn`t even solid gold.
the only one that I`ve ever seen for sale recently was for 35,000 but I was looking at powell flutes at the time.
