Arak, you love to hear yourself talk, don`t you! I am going to say this ONE MORE TIME!!!
I CAN HEAR AND I KNOW THAT I LIKE TO PLAY ON A WOODEN PICCOLO OVER A METAL ONE ANYDAY!!!
I don`t give a rats a** about what so called scientist have to say. I know what I like and there is no changing my mind. If that makes me wrong, then so be it!
Arak, talk to the hand because the ears are not listening to your nonsense anymore.

PS Thanks Jessie!

That last post was by me, not Arak. I don`t know why I put down his name.
I wonder if anyone actually takes the time to read his long, rambling posts. I don`t even bother anymore. Lol!

Arak- I like it when you provide the links for the research, like the blind studies etc. It is quite interesting. But I forgot to bookmark any of them from when you provided them. If you happen to have them when you are trying to make your point, I`m sure there are new people who haven`t had the oppportunity to read them. Thanks.

Arak, I don`t care what you have to say to me anymore- anything that insults my intellingence that comes from your mouth will not be received well. I believe that we have had squabbles in the past that all begin like this...I am the only one of the two of us who has learned the lesson that being nice to others helps!? As I said, my mind was in a million places last night and I have so many things going on that I do not need to waste time making a lighthearted joke...Do you know what it feels like to be taught by six different directors, one every year, all who quit at the end of marching season? If not, you cannot imagine what I am helping my band through as their student leader, our latest director quitting just last week! Do you like finding a virus in your computer just because you tried to jump on the net to access this forum to help others if you can? Have you spent hours fixing the problems that life brings you, only to turn around and find more waiting, even on this site? To be blunt, I do not need to add more stress to my life by attempting to rejoin a group I once loved; and to talk to people I respect; and help others who are not as experienced as others. Experience does not give you the right, Arak, to be so nasty about what you know. You do not need to rub it in others faces if you know about a subject that others have not even considered...If you know so much about acoustical science, then maybe you could attempt to bring your nose out of the air and speak simple for the sake of the younger members of this forum who actually come looking for help. I know plenty about acoustics, so you need not pass me off as a fool... As much as you say jokes undermine the forum and the people, a high brow attitude will chase people away even faster than humor will. If you need to be heard, then say what you need to say, but do not bring me or anyone else down in the process! This forum is for everyone, not just members like you who believe that their words will bring them admiration-your words, this time, Arak, have only brought you responsive anger from many more members than myself, I am sure.
I am not sure that I will be returning; as I stated before, I have many more things to do than be snubbed by a man I have never even met. If I do, I will see you all in the fall, when things will hopefully be more stabilized in this forum and elsewhere...Thank you, KC and Kara, for your amazing help...And Kara, keep up the humor-you might actually be able to enlighten Arak! Time will tell...

Lord almighty, calm down. If you can`t take someone with more experience and knowledge passing on what he knows, then maybe another flute forum is the best place for you. Maybe the kind of place where you can all talk about who`s hot in marching band?

She has every right to be upset. (Jessie, please don`t listen to that last post.) I can`t believe that you can`t see that. I agree with everything that she just said 100%!! I think that it is great that Arak has so much knowledge, but it is the way he chooses to interact with others about his knowledge is what is bad.
I may not always be the most pleasant person either, but at least I can see people for who they really are. I guess that I am not a follower, but a leader.

Jessie, please don`t leave because of one annoying person. I know it is hard to ignore, but please do try. I try to make humor out of it most the time. I don`t let him get to me. Keep smiling girl!

I suppose it takes all sorts.

Some, when faced with some sound, calm discussion and logical information, just hit out, in defence of preserving their own errors and insecure misconceptions.

I thought that was mainly on cheap American TV programmes, but apparently it is more common thatn I thought in real life. Surprisingly, it seldom happens like this in clarinet and sax forums.

BTW, some paragraphing is done as a courtesy to one`s reader, making the material easier to read.

Being that this is an online discussion forum on the flute and many flutists do not have the science backing that would make some of the acoustic information that is being passed out decipherable in any way... one is left with no other response than to be quiet and accept the science talk as being fact or disregard it... with a little jollity.

Jennifer Cluff said it best (from one of those links):

Until CNC technology is used that will allow testers to test identical
flute headjoint "embouchure cuts" in identical-in-all-respects
headjoints made of different metals, there will probably not be a
definitive answer to the gold and silver question.

All is conjecture, speculation and subjective opinion (some of which
is very strong among those who love playing on gold.)

However, subjectively, most flute players who give an opinion come up
with descriptions such as:

-The gold sounds warmer, darker, deeper, more complex.
- The silver sounds brighter, has more sparkle, more carrying.

No one knows for sure, since the most topnotch players can usually get
both extremes of tone colour, like Rampal, out of a single headjoint.

Hope this helps.
If you`re rich you can afford to experiment.
Be aware, however, that not all headjoints work on all flute bodies. You still have to try many headjoint cuts, brands and sizes to find the one that gives the best results on your flute.

If you`re poor, get a decently made headjoint (have an expert flutist help pick one out) and practice lots of tone colours using embouchure techniques outlined by flute expert/authors.

I have to speak up here. Arak, I am getting quite tired of your comments towards America in general. I ask you out of respect, for me and others in this forum that do live in the US, to please stop with these type of comments.

Bashing the US or any other country is just not a way to behave in a flute forum.

In Gods eyes we are all created equal.

I object!

I commented on a type of TV programme exhibiting low intelligence, and extreme, superficial emotional reactions, NOT "America in general". And yes, such relatively contentless programmes are relatively cheap to make.

Yes, I was in a way bashing such programmes, but I most certainly was not `bashing` America. I am mature enough to know that far more of great worth comes from America than such programmes.

"In Gods eyes we are all created equal."

So I have heard, and I have read the propaganda too, but looking at the world, and the hugely different circumstances that babies are born into, I would have to say that I now disagree with the statement. Compare the babies that are born too ill to even live; they are not created equal to a healthy baby.

I can see no evidence of the statement being true, although it would be a lovely ideal, should it ever happen. Or would it.... We`d all be boringly similar, probably clones.

It so happens that here, where I see a wide range of programmes sourced from many countries, the majority of programmes fitting such description are sourced in USA.

Are you saying that this observation is completely false?

You idiot! You totally read the whole concept wrong. If you are that retarted, then you don`t even deserve a response to that. Were you not just bashing AMERICAN made TV shows???????
