I would say go with Yamaha because they are very sturdy and reliable. I`m assuming you`re using it for school and you don`t want a professional piccolo so I would reccomend the Yamaha YPC-32 Piccolo. This is just my opinion, you might want to try out various brands like Emerson, Jupiter, or Gemeinhardt. To me Yamaha is a much better choice though.

If you are on a tight budget, on ebay there is abrand called jinyin. I know it sound decieving as a junk brand but i skeptically decided to purchase one and i was VERY impressed with it.

I agree with scott, the Yamaha 32 Piccolo`s are very reliable, especially if you`ve only just started, and i would consider them as one of the top student models!

The Armstrong 308 is wonderful and in my opinion has a much better scale than the Yamaha.

I know the search facility does not work for me, but does it work for logged-in`members`?
There are so many threads already covering this issue!
By now, most of us are sick of presenting our various different views - indeed most of us are sick of repeatedly hearing opposing views! - so what DOES turn up here in yet another repeat thread is likely to be an unbalanced perspective.

Yes. Yes. A couple of professional playing customers have them.
They play very well indeed.
Compared with Yamaha they are not so nice to work on, but from memory, I think the newer models are a lot better. The newer models play better than older ones.

But quite qa bit more expensive than the `yard-stick` Yamaha yPC-62, which is regarded as great value for money by many plaers, barring a couple on this forum, who consider the intonation difficult. I have never had that problem except when I am well out of practice on my 62.
