I thought this needed a new topic.

Anyway, here`s how one would finger the highest note on flute:

Left hand: 2nd finger
Right Hand: 2nd finger, D# trill

D# trill is the little key one hits to play highest B natural. It`s between Right hand 2nd and 3rd fingers.

Well, there it is.

uhh i`m confussed..... the flute can only go 4 octaves ( correct me if I am wrong...) low C below the staff ( or low b flat if you have to low B key) to regular c in the staff, high c above the staff.... and high high c right above hig high A... now fingerings for a high F ( the flute can only play 3 f`s right? low f, middle , and high... I don`t know about any high high f...) but the ifngerings for a high f I know is 1-3 thumb on left hand and 1 pinky on the right.

the highest note on flute ( again i`m not 100 percect sure but my fingering chart only goes up to high high C) is C... not F

I also tried tht fingering you said, I get nothing. could what your thinking of be high high b flat? the ifngering for that is 1 thumb on left and one ( first little trill key... forgot the name) pinky. * theres differnt fingerings, this is the one I learned.

Again I`m not sure but can someone else prove this?

Hmm sorry just read the topic about the high F thing... thats weird I didn`t know there was anything above that high high c... my fingering chart only goes u to that, weird. Also, then are there notes between that c to the f? there has to be but then what are the fingerings? And for some reason this high high f isn`t coming out on my flute...

yes, there are other notes between high high C and high high F (ie C#, D, D#, E) but I do not have the book with me right now to say what they are. Perhaps another day?

i think the reason a lot of pple think 4th octave C is the highest note on the flute is because a lot of books have that note written as the highest note in the flutes comfortable range.

um. well, people, needless to say, i`m confused. but there is one thing that has been getting on my nerves: there is no such thing as an E# ( E sharp) is there? cuz i swear sometimes at a first glance on a sheet of music i will se an E#-I mean, I know I`m actually lookin at an F# (stupid first glances ) but is there or is there not an E#?????

ummm... im answering Liz`s question, yes, there is such thing as a E#. Do you play piano? if you do, u should noe. but it`s ok if ya don`t. E# is actually F. ( on the piano) it should be similar somehow.... O_o

Askley, it is just called the low B natural if you have a B foot on the flute. It is NOT a B flat foot!!! Why on earth do almost all kids call it that? If you play the flute, you should know that.

Perhaps people call it Bb foot because they hear terms like Bb clarinet, Bb trumpet, Bb sax, and don`t think about the fact that this has nothing to do with flutes.

I think may relative beginners think that the 4th C is th highest not on the flute because fingering charts for beginners do not have any notes above that C. For beginners, those notes are irrlevant, and seeing all those ledger lines could be depressing for them.

Lena, if you want fingerings for those 4th octave notes, you really need ot go to the sites that offer lots of fingerings, because some fingerings suit certain players and flutes better than others. Other factors are whether you want fingerings that are easiest to play, most in tune, or having the best tone. There are MANY alternatives... the higher the note, the more alternatives.

Some sites are:
