An un named flute usually means that it is so nasty no one wants to admit to it!

My freind had an unamed flute when she began playing it didnt have anything but a bubble wrap with it. She could only use it for 3 weeks and it could only play 7 notes NOT EVEN A FULL OCTAVE!!! Even when i played it the 7 notes it did play were way out of tune and not matter how much we tried it just didnt sound good. My advice DONT BUY AN UNAMED INSTRUMENT and for anyone who already has either bring it back or melt it down.

You put them under a road roller, to turn them into a flat wall hanging.

They are probably made in India.

One of the many problems with poorly made instruments is their potential for disillusioning a beginner. Although they may actually play, they may be DIFFICULT to play, and inherently out of tune, and incapable of a good tone.

The player constantly compares her/himself with others and may well blame her/himself for producing an inferior sound, not realising that it is the instrument itself that is the limiting factor, rather than the player...

A very enthusiastic student may well persevere in this situation, as I did in my childhood, and seemingly AngelGirl, but many beginners, given this situation, just give up.

Out of courtesy for other readers, do you think that you could spell out some of your words? It is really hard to read your posts.

Hi hi

Try to see whether you can play some lower notes on that flute?

One of the big problems for a lot of poor quality flutes (regardless it has a brand name or not) is that you may find it extremely hard or even impossible to play any lower notes because of the poor padding or air leaking etc.

Good luck.

Yes, I was speaking to HI. That was the only post on this thread that didn`t make much sense unless you had about an hour to try and figure it out.

sorry about that im just so used to talking on msn and texting that i dont even realise that im doing it!
sorry again, well i can play the d below middle c and nothing below that but im just wondering whether that is because im a beginner and teaching myself?because it took me a few days to get low Bb on my sax and is it the same with flute that if you persevere yuo get it?
thanks for all of your replies already!

As with sax, it also depends hugely on the state of adjustment of your instrument.

Only a much more experienced player, or technician, can ascertain that for you. Not a forum.

hiya i know i should get a teacher but my mum says its too expensive to get lessons yet.i get my violin lessons free because i do GCSE music bit she still has to pay for piano and sax and then get all my music, strings, reeds etc.thats why im teaching myself because i taught myself piano and sax, to an ok standard, and that also helped when i started my lessons with someone who actually knew what they were on about!lol so untill i get to sixth form i cant have lessons.would it be ok to ask some of my friends who play flute?
thanks
