Hi, I`m new to this forum and newer to the piccolo. I am having trouble finding beginners guides for the piccolo and am wondering if a book on the flute would do just as well? If not could you reccomend any?
Thanks.

I just started piccolo and i found just playing my old flute stuff worked fine. I did a ton of scales to work up to the high register.

Most things are pretty much the same as the flute. You just blow the air faster, aim it more accurately, and use a lot less of it because you are blowing through a smaller embouchure hole. Of course you also have to learn to listen very carefully to intonation, making on-going adjustments with your embouchure, as with all wind instruments.
Just practise using the flute material which you already have.

You could also attack the Rubank Method book series. They are for flute and piccolo. Flute and picc are very simmilar, but when you practice, you should mentally seperate them and consider them completely different instruments. This is because though your embrochure is simmilar, it is different. Using the exact same embrochure for flute and picc will cause an airy tone on the picc, or a poor tone on the flute (or both).
Good luck,

Don`t worry, laurelin. No question is stupid here...a few of them get more response than others...
