It is not a flute with a long-standing, well-earned good reputtion.
Therefore buying one has considerable risk attached.
The first time it needs servicing, which MAY be immediately, the flute may well be worthless. Many serious faults in cheap flutes cannot be economically corrected. Many technicians refuse to work on them.
Some of the multitude of new brands coming out of China and now India may be OK, but most are definitely not worth the little money charged for them. It does cost significant money to make a flute that works and continues working.
I know some good things have been said about Jinyin flutes, but I saw a new gold plated one recently, and it was simply not worth getting into a reliable state. Every pivot was REALLY sloppy. It SORT of plays at present, but it will not go any better without several hundred dollars of work - more than it cost.

If you`re looking to get a new flute go to the woodwind brasswind website www.wwbw.com you can search for flutes that are in your price range, see what features they have and see what other people think of them. Flutes on that website are also pretty reasonably priced. Hoped this helped.

A second hand flute of reputable brand such as Yamaha is a far better way to go than a cheap and nasty new flute.

I have heard some really good things about the DC pro. A man in the US is making them. He is also a flute and sax player.
I have not had a chance to see one for myself, so I can`t really comment other than that.

What evidence do you have that they are made in USA? Surely this would be proudly stated on the web site were it true.
I find it hard to believe this guy is serious when he writes something like this in his web site:
"NICKEL PLATED INSTRUMENTS SUCH AS THIS ONE PRODUCE A DARK, RICH MELLOW TONE. THIS IS BECAUSE THE NICKEL BONDS TO THE BRASS, EXPANDING AND CONTRACTING AT THE SAME RATIO, WHEREAS ORDINARY LACQUER RESTRICTS THE VIBRATION AND PRODUCES A THINNER SOUND."
And how come one site - http://www.dominicsmusic.com/productpages/prod_883.html - has this flute new for $199 or less!!! While DCPro tries to sell it for $675.
It smells like an overpriced Chinese flute to me.

Personally I would not trust any of these new brands that are on e-bay (DC Pro, Del Phi, Symphony, etc...) They may look nice and have a pretty price tag, but you may end up spending $500 on a piece of junk. Stick with Arak`s suggestion and look for a used yamaha.

I am only going by what the maker of the flute told me over the phone. He said they were made in the US.
You do have a good point about not being able to trust him though. I agree. I find his ads very misleading.

Half of what this guy says is garbage, and the rest is stuff you can say about ANY flute, no matter how bad it is.
The BRAND name is "DC-Pro". This is just marketing to con the gullible, such as a piccoloqueen, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the flute being a professional model.
Look at the price. If it is too good to be true, then it almost certainly is. NO half-decent flute gets reduced from $890 to $199.
IMO you would have to be a gambler and have a lot of spare dollars if you throw them at this high risk item.

Just as an aside, the owner`s initials are "D.C." (Dominic Cucinotti). DC Pro is probably "his brand," likely manufactured by Jinyin or some other similar instrument maker with his brand stamped on the barrel. Dead giveaway is when it says "Engineered by French Technicians." Run the other direction as fast as you can!

piccolo-queen, or whatever else you call yourself: Are you having fun? Is this the way you run your daily life? Or is it only when you can be anonymous?
Have a little courage and tell us who you REALLY are. Your real name, address and age.
How does it feel to have so many people not respect you? Oh, that`s right, you probably lead the kind of life where nobody respects you even when they KNOW who you are.
