Kat, you say you play throught the whole range of the flute everyday yet you can only play to a Db? And you have a professional flute? That is not the whole range of the flute and I highly doubt that you have an over $5000 (yes that is what professional models cost) or higher priced flute being that you are only in what..middle school?

How Do You Guys Finger Your High D In The Fourth (Altissimo) Octave?
I Use The ---|--6 With The Low C Key And The B Flat Key But Its So Straining To Get It Out Compared To The Eb And E And F And F# Above It

C#4 : -2-4/1--4 (4 on both C and C# keys)
D: Same as Patrick said, but 4 on both C and C# keys (C# for leak risk?)
D#4 (fixed) : 1(Th)234/1-(Tr1)34 (4 on Eb key)
E4 (fixed) : 12-4/--(Tr2)34 (4 on Eb key)
F4 : -2--/-2-(Tr2)-

there are many fingerings for those top notes.

The one I like for D# is -Th---/1(Tr1)2--Low C&C#
or, the same but using Patrick`s stack key numbering system (there seems to be two systems being used here!) -Th---/4(Tr2)5 + Low C&C#

Range is something which varies from one person to another. my own range (including extended techniques such as pitch bends)is low b flat to fourth octave F.
