Hello. I need some help because i want to start playing flute and I really don`t know wich one buy. I need some good-sounding cheap flute.
Here in my country (Chile) I found some used stuff but I don`t know if it makes sense to buy it used. There are some Maxtone flutes, but I don`t know if they`re good enough (they`re quite cheap, anyway).
I`d be grateful about any advice!

The 10 or so Maxtone flutes I have worked on were of very poor quality. Not really worth keeping going.

Juan,

Translation:
I am not Spanish-speaking a native, please forgive any grammar errors I make. I am going to say that you do not have to buy a Maxtone flute or other makes of flutes that are cheap ebay models like Venus, Symphony, or Lark for example. The problem with these flutes is that the quality is horrible. One flute I recommend to my students is Yamaha, they are a little expensive, but it is a mark of a very respected and well-known product of high quality. Other makes of flutes that or are known and better than Maxtone are Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Selmer, Pearl or Emerson. If the flute functions well, it matter not whether it is new or old.

Piko next time you translate something that I say, can you do it in a way that will give others the impression that my Spanish is flawless?

Well I really just proof-read a Google Spanish -> English translation...
Originally it was:
I am not Spanish-speaking a native one then if I make an error grammar, I feel it. I am going to say that You do not have to buy flauta Maxtone or other marks of flautas that are cheap in ebay like Venus, Symphony or Lark for example. The problem with these flautas is that the quality of flauta is horrible. For one flauta for the students I recommend a Yamaha, they are a little expensive but it is a mark very respected and well-known by a product of high quality. Other marks of flautas that or are known and better than Maxtone are Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Selmer, Pearl or Emerson. If flauta worked or nonimportant if she is new or old.

Erin, the next time you choose to speak Spanish, out of courtesy for others on this board please translate it into English so that Piko won`t have to for us the next time.
Piko was doing us a favor and should not be mocked because you chose not to speak English to the rest of us.

Juan did choose to write his post in English so it was obvious that he can read and understand English. There was no need to write in Spanish, unless of course you were trying to show us all your skills.

Kara, it was not my intention to show off. Juan said "Y si es en espaņol mejor aun!", which translates into "and even better if it is in Spanish". I also put in my title of my reply that the reply was in Spanish. I`m sorry that I did not provided a translation, but I was pressed for time at the moment. Next time I will leave one. I`m not sure why Juan requested replies in Spanish because his English skills seem excellent.

Yes that does seem odd. I am sorry then, my mistake. If I was talented enought to read Spanish myself then I would have know what it said.
I apoligize.

Kara, that`s ok I wasn`t upset about what you said. I just don`t want other people to think that I was trying to brag about myself.
